That time of year has come again.....the 04:30 wake up call, the meticulous routine of making sure you've got everything the way you want it in transition (better just check that one more time) haha....

The Dambuster is a great opportunity to test yourself at an early stage in the season. With my result from last year in mind, and training I had done with my coach Perry Agass of TeamDillon, I was in good physical shape and mentally focused on my targets.

It was a chilly damp start to the morning but got there in plenty of time to get sorted. Registration....rack....warm up done.

The sound of the horn blasts and we're off!!! I started well, and stuck to my game plan. I knew if I raced HARD and paced well my endurance would play a vital part in my overall performance. I came into T1 beating my 10k run split from the previous year which gave me a great boost going on to a tough 42k bike course. After settling into my rhythm, my pace was good and felt strong considering the volume of training I had done leading into the race. I entered T2 and was onto the final 5k run in no time. By this time it was hurting but knew the early season base training and high volume would come into play. It did and i gained a couple places crossing the line 7th in my AG at a British Championship Race and a strong field in a time of 2:02:43.

I had beaten my time from last year by 9 minutes and was quicker over all of my splits. Job done!!

Here are my split times:

10k Run - 34:43
42k Bike - 1:09:56
5k Run - 16:25
